Zews
There are a few settings that I don't understand and how to set them properly when planning my route. 1. Reference consumption. How do I accurately determine to set this properly? 2. Start Depart Charge and Use Live Data. How does this work? 3. Use live data. What does this do? 4. Live Car Connection (related to 3?) View Live Data. What does this do? It seems that I can use my Model 3 browser only when my car is connected to WiFi. Is it possible to use ABRP in my car's browser on the road where I will not have WiFi access anywhere. I can activate my phone as a hotspot, but I am not sure if my car will see it to connect to it. If you've got live data set up, we'll determine it for you as you drive. Otherwise, setting your "average" consumption is probably fairly close (depending on how fast you typically drive day-to-day). 9 hours ago, Zews said: 2. Start Depart Charge and Use Live Data. How does this work? 3. Use live data. What does this do? Start Depart Charge is the % charge you're starting your trip. I generally set it to 100% since I do a full charge before I leave on a trip. Use Live Data uses the Live Data from your car (if you've set it up) to set the plan settings. For a Tesla, this will fill in Start Depart Charge and Outside Temperature. 9 hours ago, Zews said: 4. Live Car Connection (related to 3?) View Live Data. What does this do? View Live Data shows you the current data from your car via the MyTesla link. Without a network connection you probably won't be able to use ABRP's driving mode on the in-car browser. You can always use it on your phone, I'm not sure if the Model 3 provides live data on the basic connection, but if you get updated data on your phone, you're good to go! Zews
Thank you Jason, Currently my Reference Consumption is fairly high as, even though I have had the car a bit over a year I have only driven it about 6,500 mostly city miles. I would think that once I get on the road for our trip the number will drop. As you suggested I have set ABRP to my current average consumption. There will be several days of driving for our road trip from San Francisco, CA to Santa Fe, NW and back. I do plan to charge up to 100% before starting each day of driving. I have checked Live Data. I guess we will see how that works as we are driving. My car does seem to have a pretty decent Net connection in the Tesla browser, both via LTE and when using my phone as a hotspot for WiFi. And on my iPad via WiFi to with the phone's hotspot. I have only tried this out in the city while parked on the side of the road. I have not tried this while driving.
