JR250
Hi! and thanks for this great tool. Is it safe to enter my Tesla account and password within the tool/website? Does my account information get stored on your servers or is it just local to my browser session via cookie/token? As this account is the key to all things Tesla for me, I wanted to clarify how is it being used. Thanks! JR
Bo-ABRP
We know that the Tesla credentials are very important to keep to yourself, and we have designed ABRP to keep things as private as possible. We never store your MyTesla password, only the token generated by Tesla. This is stored in browser local storage (like cookies), and not on our servers. If you tick "36h background sharing" we will remember your token in server memory (never on disk) for 36h to track your car and share statistics with ABRP. Hope that helps!
Atlix
Hi, Thanks for a gret tool. Will share data as much as possible. How do I get my Tesla Access token? And is this required in order to plan a route in my house and then sync this to the car?
Atlix
Is it corrct I can only share a route to the car if I send the plan to the phone and then open the plan when the car is on?
Jason-ABRP
I'm not exactly sure, as I don't own a Tesla so hopefully someone who does have one can chime in. You don't need to log into myTesla to send a planned route to your car, but you do need one (or to input your password) to get live data and follow the plan in the car. I believe the order of operations to send the next destination to the Tesla Nav is: Plan the route on your phone Tap Share > Share Next Step When prompted what app you want to receive the share link, choose the Tesla App. You can then send the destination via the Tesla App to your car Navigate to the next destination in the car. If you want to follow the plan in the web browser in your car, all you have to do is log into myTesla and we'll fetch the token for you (this is never saved permanently to our servers, so you'll have to log in again on each device you want to see car data on). To confirm you're seeing data, click "Show Settings > Show More Settings > View Live Data", you should see the most recent data from your car. Then create a plan from your current position and start driving! You'll get a graph display showing how you're doing relative to the plan, and we'll recalibrate to your actual driving parameters. Atlix
Thanks I also think this will work. So it won't sync from a fesktoo/laptop in the house, then? Have to do the planning on the phone, correct? I just thought it might be possible to sync the plan to the car from a PC in the house if I log into the Tesla car in the app or in the web browser. But it seems the Tesla login is only for data sharing?
Jason-ABRP
A little of both, actually. The ABRP login is for synchronizing plans on the website, Tesla Login is for data sharing and live drive plan following.

Will ABRP use the phone GPS to figure out which step is 'next'? Amazing planning tool, nice work Edited April 28, 2019 by Glyn spelling

Yep, once you're all charged up it knows what the next step is based on where you are GPS-wise.
