Android Auto is freezed untill opening the Android app on the mobile phone

Premium bought, why do I need to open the Android application on my Google Pixel, to let the Android Auto app move the icon?

If I dont open de app, it will not navigate/move the symbol.

As soon as I open the app on my mobile phone, the screen will move on my android auto...

There is a workaround for this specific issue on Pixel phones.

Long click the ABRP icon in the app drawer, click on app info, scroll down to advanced section and enable the toggle for "overlay on other apps".

This will allow the background service to be started correctly again. We are however working on a generically working solution too.

Thanks, I changed this settings, but actually I though the solution was to enable the toggle for "override car position".. (saw this in another topic)

I have the same issue on my Samsung Z4. The mentioned settings don't help. Any other ideas?

Actually the "overlay on other apps" worked. The setting is just in a different place on Samsung. 

Settings > apps > overflow three dot menu top right > special access > appear on top > toggle setting for ABPR
