Abrp pauses when phone screen turns off

Question

Today, my abrp on Android auto started pausing when my phone screen goes off.  This has never happened before.  Any ideas what may be happening?  The app is set to appear over other apps and I don't have battery saver activated.  I have a Google pixel 4a.  I have no idea why this just started today.

Hi,

Does only the map stop moving but instructions still update? We had a similiar issue with Xiaomi phones, where the map rendering stop, but everything else continues.

Or does everything completely stops working? Does it resume when you turn on the screen again?

@Samuel-ABRP I am also having similar issues. Anytime the app doesn't have primary focus on my phone, navigation freezes. I have tried to see if I can force the app to always get my location data, to no avail. Seems like always on location data wasn't a consideration during development. Also, what data is ABRP supposed to be collecting from my BT OBDII reader? Because, it most definitely does not acquire my SOC.

I also have the same behaviour. Android Auto doesn't update GPS position if phone screen is off or abrp is not in foreground. This worked ok before the last update. It completely stops working. Map and pointer don't move, instructions and soc is not updating. It resumes when screen is on and app is in foreground.

Another thing is that when GPS signal is lost in tunnel the possition jumps forwards and backwards on the route and recalculates, it shows wrong destination soc even after getting out of tunnel. Bacause of this jumps the distance and average speed in My Drives is also wrongly displayed. Before the last update it worked ok - when GPS signal was lost the position froze and it recalculated after exiting the tunnel.

I have Huawei Mate 10. Unfortunately I can't use the app anymore.

I have a similar question: On the iphone, after the screen goes off, the OBD connection seems to disconnect. When opened, the connection status is Disconnected and Reconnecting. Does the phone need to be switched to log the car? Or ABRP logs in even when the iPhone is "sleeping".

Adding my voice - Running a Samsung S21 in the US. All battery saving options are turned off. ABRP currently does not allow me to do anything unless I unlock the phone, after which it lets me program a route and I can lock the screen. Bug report being filed shortly
