MG Marvel R and OBD Live data

If you can provide the obd commands used on that car we can definitely add it. Do you know if they are the same on the other MG cars?

Thanks for getting back to me Samuel!

I would gladly help out but Im not sure how to do it. I'll get my ordered Marvel R in the next few weeks and I have also ordered the Vgate vLinker MC+ OBD2 unit. Is there any guide out there how I can extract the commands for you? (Sorry for my lack of knowledge regarding this).

Thanks

First of all you could try if MG5 or MG ZS EV (before 2022 model, as that one uses same commands as MG5) as selected car returns any value. Normally cars of the same manufacturer tend to use the same OBD commands. If that does not work it might make sense to search on the bigger MG forums if anyone already found the OBD commands and ask them to provide them. If this also does not work i guess you have to create an OBD dump and find the right values which could be very time consuming without any knowledge.

I see, thanks for the explanation. Once I get the car (hopefully within a week or two) I will start testing this by using it as MG5 or MG ZS 21 in ABRP for the OBD2 data and I will let you know. If it turns out that the parameters are the same for the cars, and it works as expected, I guess by then you should be able to add the support for Marvel?

I'll let you know as soon as I get going!

We can easily enable it if it works and it will be available without app update.

Hi, I was able to get data in my new Marvel when I chose MG5 Long range 😁

This is pretty awesome! Thanks for sharing. Im still waiting for my (delayed) Marvel R which should arrive next week, but already got the Vgate vLinker MC+ OBDII dongle, so can't wait to try this!

By the way, where is the OBD2 connection on Marvel R? Under the steering wheel I assume?

I can confirm Live data is working on MG Marvel R by using the MG5 Long Range profile. Could you please add the Marvel in the list of supported cars?

Thanks in advance and keep up your great job!

Ive noticed the MG ZS EV Long Range profile works too on Marvel (seems to be same data values on all 3 MG models).

Please don't use the MG5 profile while driving as that sends false data for the MG5 consumption profile.

We will enable it for the Marvel soon as well, i'll add a task to our todo list.

Thanks for your reply. Looking forward to when you add it, hopefully very soon as many of us with Marvels are waiting for the support 🙂

I have so far only been testing it without really driving, but to see if it connects and reports correct data from the car, which it does. Once you have added the support for Marvel, I will begin using it for real trips.

Thanks again!
