Arjansbror
So I got an obd2 adapter that is in the car (my EV6, Lucky me hehe) .. Have downloaded the free version of the ABRP app via Google playstore (have Android) What do I do now ?, when I am in advance settings do I see no possibility to connect my vehicle data with the app? Is there a guide or what do I need to do to get real-time data into Android auto?
Samuel-ABRP
You need to add a car (not with quick selection but that add car button). Then you can click on the icon behind the car and you will see the car details and there you will also find the possibility to link a telemetry source to your car.
Lance Pickup
I think what you are looking for is under the vehicle settings, not the app settings. After you add your Car Model to ABRP, you can then go into the car settings and you should see several options for linking your OBD dongle to ABRP (either directly or through a third-party app such as Tronity or EVNotify). The documentation there is good (maybe not perfect), but you should try to follow along there and see if you can connect (or if not, where you are getting stuck).
Arjansbror
Thank you guys, i think i found it .. However can i use Android and the "free" version to connect to real-time data (e.g. Battery %, how much will be left when I arrive etc...)? Or this only works with ios and iPhone? Lance Pickup
So as I was looking into this to help out Arjansbror, I noticed that the app now has direct support for OBDII dongles. Hurray! So I unlinked my OBD integration from EVNotify (which I had been using) and tried to connect ABRP to my dongle directly. No dice. That's when I read that ABRP only supports BLE dongles (mine is an older plain Bluetooth dongle). But now I can't figure out how to re-link ABRP to EVNotify (or is it the other way around?) EVNotify thinks I am already linked to ABRP and doesn't offer a way (at least not an obvious way) to remove the ABRP integration so I can re-add it. Short of uninstalling EVNotify from my phone and re-installing, is there a way to get my EVNotify link back? I am intrigued by the possibility of getting a BLE dongle so I can use the direct connection method (and get EVNotify out of the stack), but the BLE dongles are 2X the cost of the what I paid for my Bluetooth dongle that I already have and works well for me, so I'm not keen on tossing more money at the problem. Arjansbror
You should not hijack my topic without also answering my latest question .... (if possible)
Lance Pickup
@Arjansbror, after you click on the "KOPPLA ABRP OBD CONNECTION" button, it should bring up a screen where it scans for your OBDII dongle. There is a link at the top of this page that says (in English anyway): "Read about OBD dongles and security". I suggest you take a look at it. The first paragraph ends with the sentence: "This works for both iOS and Android devices and is available for all ABRP users, not only Premium members." So I think you are good. I am a premium member, so I'm not always aware of what I get "extra". But I use Android and it works very well (even going through the third party EVNotify service), and I don't think that the premium features are required for that.
Lance Pickup
Just now, Arjansbror said: You should not hijack my topic without also answering my latest question .... (if possible) I was waiting for the ABRP support person to answer because they would be more authoritative, but I answered it anyway. Sorry for the hijack, but I figured I had their attention in this thread!
Samuel-ABRP
Live data is free, correct. Thanks Lance.
Samuel-ABRP
@Lance Pickup i think you have to contact Evnotify to remove the link so you can reconnect.

I spent a lot of time trying to figure out why I couldn't initiate the connection to my OBD dongle and why my screen didn't match the screen on various Youtube videos. Turns out I hadn't used the add car button to add my car. Fortunately I found this forum posting and now everything is working. Thanks!
John in SoCal
Besides enabling ABRP to make dynamic decisions about charging stops, based on live data about SOC, what other benefits are there? Based on what other live data?
Lance Pickup
It's not just decisions about what stops to make, but also how long those stops will be. It will also allow ABRP to provide updated/accurate destination arrival times. Another benefit is that it should enable ABRP to calibrate your own personal efficiency so that it's predictions will be more accurate in the future.
