OBD2 Integration

Recommended Posts

I have always run TorquePro to get live data to my Bolt EV and it has worked fine.  I wanted to try the new ABRP direct OBD2 Integration, but seem to be having some issues.  It has worked once, but now has a hard time seeing my Veepeak OBD2 reader.  I have unlinked my TorquePro and but my OBD2 reader doesn't show up in the list when I try the direct connect and it doesn't seem to connect automatically when I start the app.  Any ideas?

On my side, ABRP don't detect my veepeak when I want to add it!

Works fine with EVnotify

We are currently working on improving the support of new OBD devices without releasing a new ABRP version each time. I also saw that dongle on our new issue tracker already, so we will deal with it soon.

Great!  Looking forward to it...

This only works with BLE OBD Dongles.

Will this always only support BLE adapters or will full Bluetooth adapters eventually be supported? For example I have an OBDLinkMX+, not the CX, but if the MX+ is on the roadmap I won't bother buying a different one

Eventually we will also support classic BT, but we have no timeline on that yet, as there are workarounds (other apps) available for that.

I have the same Veepeak BLE device but I don't even see the option in my app to try and add a device.  What version of the app (android) do I need to be on?  I even joined the beta program.

I'm on the beta and the option is under settings...  Show Live Data Instructions  Link ABRP OBD2 connection.  It does seem to get data from my OBD2 now, maybe the last update helped?Screenshot_20220106-132125.thumb.png.9c807ac42b540faf653b437975f88210.png

Only supported cars will show that option. Beta is not required.

Has the Veepeak OBD2 reader been updated in the ABRP software?  It seems to be picked up now when I start my car by ABRP now without me starting my TorquePro app?

We only use connections to automatically connect to when you previously finished the setup process. So if you did not set it up with ABRP before, i don't think that we establish a connection to it of there was none before.

I was able to get it connected previously, but when I went back it wouldn't show up in the device list regularly.  I guess it is still linked, because I do get data.

Yes if it is linked once we always connect again.

It doesn't show up if you use it with another app before I think which might still reserve the connection.

Great!  I don't know if it's me, but the few routes I have used it for when linked directly seem much more accurate than when I used it with TorquePro, maybe it was still learning my consumption patterns?

Should the ABRP app on an Android phone detect the vLinker FD+ BLE OBD2 adapter?
I tried to connect, but it can't find the adapter.

I had issues with my Veepeak BLE adapter showing up.  Is your adapter connected to any other app?  I just kept trying and eventually it appeared and I was able to link it.

Does the option to connect a OBD adapter show up on ABRP standard or do I have to upgrade to the PREMIUM version? Could not find the option on my standard ABRP app on Android....

If yes, do I need a separate subscription für each of the three drivers? If yes this would be rather expensive for just one car....

All drivers have their own Android smartphones with their own google account. Of course it would be possible to share the ABRP account.

I also try to use Veepeak BLE (just bought a new one) with ABRP, but without success.

The connection stays, but the tranferred data is not proper, the SoC is not provided.

The vehicle is Kia EV6.

Any suggestions? Maybe I should use an other OBD-adapter? Which one?
