ABRP through Android Auto claims i need to be logged in or have premium account but ABRP on phone is logged in

Question

Hi, i bought past week a VW ID3 and am using a phone with android 11 and ABRP was just installed yesterday on my phone. Phone doesn't see any updates, car neither, so all software is as fresh as possible.

I was checking the ABRP on my phone and then decided to give it a go in the car via Android Auto but it said that "i need to be logged in or have a premium account to use it" so i created an accoun (in both app and forum). Since then, I have restarted both phone and car's infotainment system but everytime i try to use ABRP in car it gets same error as earlier.

I parked the car and some hours later tried again, thinking it must be some sync went bad, because on phone i can see my account profile etc (i also logged off and in few times) but once i connect it to car is like the detail that i am logged in is not sent. I use phone's data connection, so ABRP is also "online" (wifi is used with car's bluetooth to connect to Android Auto).

So, it is something i miss, or do i need to buy premium to use it in Android Auto?

The text might be a bit misleading, we will work on that.

OK, thanks for clearing it up!

Not sure because my travel plans got.... trashed, so didn't buy the Premium - i drive like 10-20 km around home, at most.

I would guess that yes, it needs the confirmation that is paid version, unless ABRP really wanted to use data from beta version from as many users as possible, but that time seems to have passed so...

Worth checking although i'd have no idea how to install on phone a beta version and keep it as such.

But if one would really need it, probably better to go Premium and have previous bugs fixed and new features available ? (general remark, i have no idea of versions' differences)

Hi @CosB,

Access to AA is now a premium feature requiring an active subscription or trial.

If you're referring to car data (consumption etc.), it would've been nice if we'd be able to get that via AA but this is not the case. It is possible when using the Android Automotive app (different from Android Auto) such as the version we created for the Polestar 2 however. Otherwise a link to the vehicle such as the ones listed here will be needed.

It's the basically same app and the same bugs. But premium users have access to additional features; Android Auto, CarPlay, weather and traffic data, detailed live charger status (for selected networks), possibility to add multiple saved vehicles etc. as well as prioritized support. Full list* can be found at: https://abetterrouteplanner.com/premium

*AA isn't on the list yet but we'll update it add AA to the list as soon as we can.
