Resetting reference consumption doesn't do anything

Recommended Posts

Description: Resetting reference consumption doesn't do anything
Type: Yes, latest on Android and iOS AFAIK.
Replication Steps:
  1. Get the reference consumption for a car to some non-default value (400+ on a model Y in my case)
  2. Go into settings for the car and click reset reference consumption
  3. Check reference consumption, see it didn't change.
  4. For bonus points, try unlinking and re linking to reset and see it not change

Hi @MysticMetal,

Do you find that the reference consumption of your vehicle is not reset at all, or that it changes back after a while?

In Settings (detailed) > Reference consumption you can toggle the use of live calibrated reference consumption. See the screenshot below to see what it looks like when the reference consumption is static. (White background, blue car icon, value is editable.)

If the value is static you can enter a custom value. The default ref. cons. of the Model Y Long Range AWD is 3,35 mi/kWh @ 65 mph (or 298 wh/mi @ 65 mph, please note the units).

Hello Sofia,

I knew about that trick. I figured out later that the issue was only a display one... I wanted to reset the live calibrated reference consumption (it was 400+ due to driving with a bag on top of my car) and did what I thought would reset it, but it wasn't changed in the display until after I drove for a while, which I wasn't expecting. I was expecting it to change to the non-live amount immediately without needing to drive at all.

Hi @MysticMetal,

Thank you for clarifying!

A trick that might help you avoid this issue in the future is to create a configuration for your car with the extra weight. Go to your car's settings and add a new configuration. Select the option which best suits the nature of the configuration, for instance "Cargo on roof". In the settings of the car while the configuration is selected you can write how much extra weight you are carrying.

While this configuration is selected the app will track the consumption of the vehicle with the extra weight etc. When you switch back to the default configuration the app will also switch back to the regular reference consumption.

Hi @MysticMetal,

We have previously, as you noted actually not performed the reset until the car was active (driving) again. This is of course both unnecessary an unresponsive. We've therefore just recently changed it so that the reset will be instant, without the requirement to drive.

Regarding your question, by 'historical trips' do you mean saved plans?
