Connecting ABRP Account with Tesla Account

Recommended Posts

Hi @jnschimberg,

You currently don't have a saved vehicle to link. To link, do the following:

1. Go into: Settings (detailed) > Car model > Add my car
2. Specify the vehicle model, name it
3. Select a linking option, for linking directly with your Tesla account select 'Link MyTesla'
4. Log in with your Tesla credentials and the connection will be established

I just recently connected ABRP to my Tesla account. It asked me to select my vehicle and there was only one available in the drop down list. I believe the 2018 Model 3 Performance (named 18M3DP) is connected but I'm trying to plan a trip in the 2013 Model S 85 (13S85). Is there a way to switch the ABRP connection to one of the other vehicles in my Tesla account?

Hi @bmenke,

Normal users may only have one car saved on their account, premium users may save multiple vehicles and can thereby link several.

If you linked the wrong vehicle you can delete the currently saved and linked vehicle by:

1. Go into: Settings (detailed) > Car model
2. Click the cogwheel to the right of your saved car
3. At the bottom of the menu you should find the 'delete' button (trash can icon)
4. Click it and have the vehicle deleted

After you've done so you can create a new saved vehicle and link again. It is possible to unlink and re-link the currently saved vehicle as you asked but I would not recommend doing so since I can see that you do have live data accumulated from the current connection.

@Katya-ABRP I signed up for the premium trial in hopes of being able to select any of the three vehicles on my Tesla account. I am still only seeing the one vehicle (18M3DP) on the "Select your Tesla" screen. Please help me figure out how to select the vehicle I am taking on my trip tomorrow (13S85).

@Katya-ABRP

Yes, I disconnected because I did not want my trip in the 2013 Model S 85 (named 13S85) to be affected by the real-time settings of the 2018 Model 3 Dual-motor Performance (named 18M3DP).

I attempted (both on my trip and today) to reconnect my Tesla account and I'm getting, "Error: Couldn't login. Please double check your email and password." I have manually typed both, double checked, and even gone to tesla.com to check that my username and password are correct. I am simply no longer able to log on through the app. I tried on the computer (webpage) as well and got the same result.

On my trip, I had set the app to avoid tolls and it took me on to a toll road. I pulled over because I didn't have cash and double checked the settings and it still had the avoid tolls option turned on. That was not fun.

As feedback, it would be nice if it alerted me when "You are no longer on the route." I was driving along happily and apparently when I went through a remote area and had intermittent cell phone signal it did not indicate it had lost the ability to navigate. When the signal returned, rather than putting me back on the route it just kept the message that I was not on the route and I just kept driving. I had to switch to navigation software and get myself back on the route. Then had to stop for a few hours and slow charge because I could no longer make it to the next supercharger.

I am happy to continue trouble shooting the Telsa account connection to help make the product better.

Hi,

I am also experiencing issues connecting the vehicle in my ABRP account to my Tesla vehicle. Initial authentication seems to go through but it fails when I provide the 6 digit code as part of second factor authentication. It requests the code and I enter it but it just gets stuck with no error codes.

Hi @bmenke,

Very sorry for the delayed reply, thank you for your patience.

Got it! Sounds like you've exhausted all the options. I'll have this information forwarded to the team so that it can be properly investigated. I've also had your trial further extended.

That's no fun indeed. Do you have the plan link or could you specify where / what road ? It could be that the road is incorrectly tagged in the map data we've got an if so that'll need to be corrected.

Normally, if you haven't deviated too much we should replan and adjust accordingly automatically. The changes made then are usually rather small and doesn't change much compared to the original plan you've accepted when you started driving. We'd otherwise like to refrain from automatic replanning where we give you an entirely different plan since not only could the roads be different but the charging stops included. These details aren't really optimal to try to check while driving.

In this case I do think that it could've been solved by clicking the 'replan' button to force ABRP to replan the route and continue navigation (at the point where you had better connection again). Did you attempt this?

In any case, it is definitely a good scenario to bring up - we should be able to handle the situations where connection is lost better than this.

Hi @Jean-Pierre White,

I've just had your account and saved vehicle checked. No live data option is currently selected and it isn't stuck on 'registering' but I can clearly see there's been past attempts to link to a car.

When you last attempted this, did you see any status such as 'registering' or 'sleeping'?

This seems similar to Bmenke's issues and I'll include this information in my report to the team so that we can have this properly investigated.

I've also had the renewal date for your subscription postponed by a couple weeks, giving you a few "free" weeks.

@Katya-ABRP The Chickasaw Turnpike in Oklahoma goes from just southwest of Fitzhugh off highway 1 (34.656958, -96.794953) to north of Sulphur by the intersection of highway 7 and US 177 (34.544424, -96.967244).

Hi @bmenke,

I can see that the map data is correct and that this road is marked as tolled, however we for some reason doesn't avoid it. other roads marked as tolled are however avoided. I've created a report about this issue and we'll be looking into it.

As for the issues with linking your Tesla, we're still not able to see what would prevent the connection from being established. The other users I've been in touch with have eventually been able to reconnect. I've had both your saved vehicles that were stuck on 'registering' "logged out" so that you may try to link again.

Indeed, I seem to be in a similar situation: it says the password is incorrect (it's not) when putting in the multifactor code. The system then says my "Unnamed Car" is "Registering." I have tried deleting and repeating but it gives the same error every time.

I'll follow this thread to see if there's any updates.

Thanks!

To be clear, this may be a change or maybe it was always this way, but currently the web page does not let you log into your Tesla account with the account credentials to extract info from the car.  You have to log in through the phone app, which creates a token.  ABRP shares this token with the website and your car will be accessible through the website as well.

I’m new to ABRP. I can’t figure out how to link my Tesla.  I input the car info on the phone app, but it does not offer me any linking options. The Tesla app is logged in, but there is no option anywhere on the ABRP app that I can find to link them.  Is it a feature only on the premium version?

Premium is not needed for linking any of our vehicle models. To link your Tesla please use the Android or iOS app.

1. Go into: Settings (Advanced) > Car model > Add my car
2. Specify the vehicle model
3. Select a linking option ('MyTesla' for Teslas), for linking directly with your Tesla account select 'Link MyTesla'
4. Log in with your Tesla credentials and the connection will be established

Hi @Katya-ABRP

Thanks four all your in-depth answers. I am getting this issue when attempting to login.

I’m about to go ahead and delete ‘my car’ in the house that i can restart the login process, though i recall this did not work when i tried a few weeks ago. We are about to drive from Brisbane to Sydney, so a lit more accuracy would be a great comfort!

Help warmly appreciated.
