Odd Routing Going On.

Recommended Posts

New Tesla owner here. This past weekend I did two trips. One was about five hours (round) and the other was about 40 min.

On both trips ABRP will take me off the 'main' road and run me through an area and then right back to the main road, instead of

keeping on the road in the first place. When travelling to a SC ABRP actually completely ignored the exit and has us go miles out of

the way and turn back to the original exit. The onboard navigation in the Tesla so far outshines ABRP as far as my use goes.

Hi @Genomecop,

That sounds like some odd behavior. Were "Automatic settings", such as live traffic data, enabled when you experienced this issue? Do you recall in what locations the planner rerouted you/ignored an exit?

If you'd prefer not to write the locations in publically in the forum you are welcome to send us an email instead. Open the menu by clicking the ABRP button in the top left corner of the screen and click the "Tell us what you think!" button. This will generate an email.

You can make use of the onboard navigation in your Tesla by starting the navigation in on your mobile app and then sending it to your car. Click Share > Send to my Tesla. This will contiuously send the next stop to the built-in navigation of your vehicle.

Five hour trip was to East Hampton from Manhattan. We wanted to stop and charge at a SC that was right off the highway. ABRP had us over shoot the exit and continue for miles, exit and get back on in the opposite direction. We actually lost time because of that.

Second trip was Manhattan to Edgewater NJ.  ABRP actually had us get off the 'main' road and go through a parking area of an office complex, shopping area and turn and get right back on the same road it made us get off. Literally just blocks. Really ridiculous.

Hi @Genomecop,

We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced.

Were you using the Tesla browser or a mobile device for the navigation? What version of the app are you running?

We did tweak some things in the planner to prevent unnecessary reroutes in a recent update. Have you experienced this kind of problem again since your trips a few weeks ago?
