alan stone
Description: on dual carriageways and motor ways it is taking me off the route to only rejoin immediately. Type: Android auto I did this twice today! If you are following satnav, it usually means you don't know where you are going. Very infuriating. Katya-ABRP
Hi @alan stone, Could you provide a link to the plan where this happens so that we can get a better understanding of what we need to tweak? Or is it not in the original plan, does it simply happen along the way when navigating? /Katya
AlistairB
Hi, I've seen the same thing. I'm not sure if it changed while I was driving or not, I didn't look closely enough before I left. I just tried planning for the same section now and it suggests staying on, but with an alternative that takes me off and back on which it says takes the same time, don't know if traffic data could have made it think going off/on was faster at the time (but it definitely wouldn't have been). https://abetterrouteplanner.com/?plan_uuid=af04a6b5-8036-418e-a94f-9fa3a4b2db16 In the past I've seen it happen in another place, which involves going through a couple of sets of traffic lights if you go off, so again, never going to be quicker. This one says to stay on currently, and doesn't show an alternative. https://abetterrouteplanner.com/?plan_uuid=ee4796a7-7590-457d-afa0-858dc1c52263
Katya-ABRP
Hi @AlistairB, Thank you for the information! Based on the linked plans, it seems like we're assuming you've diverted from the planned route, gone off the highway and based on that assumption we're starting to route you back as this is still the fastest option despite the little detour. I've personally seen such behavior before. We did fix it several months ago but seemingly it's returned. Looking at the screenshot from one of my recent drives below would you say this is similar to what happened? /Katya
AlistairB
Hi @Katya-ABRP, I don't think so. When I was driving I had the instruction to turn off before I got to the exit and could see that it was going to route back on again after. For the first plan I sent it's like the route selected was the "similar time" route.
Katya-ABRP
Hi @AlistairB, Okay so you got the navigation instruction to go off the highway first? I'd say this is the same error actually, we're currently reviewing the decisions made during my driving session to see what caused us to assume I'd diverted from the planned route. /Katya
AlistairB
Yes, I got the instruction to come off first.
TomTomZoe
@Katya-ABRP I saw the same problem with ABRP V4.0.46 which I used last three weeks very intensive on a 2900km roundtrip through germany: If the motorway has a slight right turn (for example 5 degree right), and at this point there is a structurally separate exit and access lane, then ABRP will choose the "one meter" shorter route through the exit and access lane instead of staying on the motorway. I got no navigation instruction to leave the motorway completly, but to use the separate exit and access lane and then continue on the regular motorway. Really irritating, because the overview view is changed to the detail view in this moment and you can't change it back to overview view (to get a clearer understanding of the strange situation) until ARBP routing has passed the change of direction, which in truth is no change of direction, as it actually goes straight on. Unfortunatly I have no screenshot of this situation, but it happed many times on my trip. Edited July 20, 2021 by TomTomZoe
