Live Data From LEAF Spy not working

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

It's just noticed that ABRP supports live data from Leaf Spy, this is fantastic. However, I'm having trouble getting it to work.

I've entered the ID and URL into leafspy and selected https. Leafspy is not showing any errors therefore I assume the data is being posted to your server correctly. However when i refresh the live data display in ABRP no data is showing. How can I debug this? Can you check my account to see if any data is being received from leafspy? I can't find any info of other users using this feature, has this feature been tested before?

I noticed the ID token changes each time I refresh ABRP, is it therefore required to update the ID token in leafspy each time ABRP is to be used? This is a bit cumbersome.

I ticked 'hide' next to the password field after this screenshot was taken, it didn't seem to make a difference.

No, you shouldn't have to re-enter your token each time you update, that's only to force it to load a new token if you want one.  As far as why your live data's not showing up, that's a good question.  A few things to check, LeafSpy only sends data in the foreground, so if you swap fully to another app it won't send data (We have a request to the dev to fix this).  If you have ABRP open on another device and have LeafSpy send data does it work?

Thanks a lot for the prompt replay. Ok, that's good to know

I had leafspy open in the foreground on a separate device to ABRP. Is it possible to check on your backed system if you can see any data from my leaf spy arriving successfully? I wish leafspy would show a successful server connection message

As it turns out, it wasn't making it.  Found an error in the log that exposed a bug which is now fixed, and you should see data now!

Awesome! I can confirm it's working now! Nice work 😃

This is so useful for Nissan LEAF drivers, I intend to test it out on a long trip across Europe soon (see attached). It's totally amazing that ABRP can calcualte this route!

Is there any chance you could add the options to enter economy in miles/kWh (UK) and km/100kWh (Europe).

Also in the UK we use miles for distance and degrees Celsius for temperature...we're strange like this 🙃. Currently, there is no way in ABRP to have both miles and deg C.

So impressed with ABRP, I've just send your donation to support your server costs. It's the least I can do. Keep up the good work 👍

You definitely can switch your economy to mi/kWh (we use this in the US as well), just click on the "mi/kWh" button in the settings and it'll swap over.  As far as Wh/km vs kWh/100km, the difference is only multiplying by 10, but we'll likely have to include that as a setting since it seems everyone is going that direction except Tesla (I do think Tesla's choice of units makes a lot of sense, but so do many of their EV design choices and no one seems to be adopting those either).

As far as mixed units, I intend to include that when I overhaul the settings page - giving the option to bulk swap everything to metric/imperial, or set them individually.

Glad to be of service!

One of the main things I want to do in my upcoming settings overhaul is make the whole thing more user-friendly.  At the moment it's pretty hard for new users to get the hang of the settings because there are so many ways to configure your route.

Do you have any requests on that front? Things you wish (aside from the UK units thing) we did differently / better?

Hi. LOVE ABRP, but I got the same problem as @Glyn .

I have punched in everything in Leaf Spy Pro, but nothing appears in ABRP...

Hope you can help me out here. :)

Conveniently, there was an error in the log to fix! Give it another try and see if it works now.

Everything has working nicely until part way through drive home yesterday when data stopped being transferred from leafspy, I can still read leafspy directly but abrp does not seem to be getting info anymore. I didn't (knowingly) change anything ad was driving. Have you had server problem?

Yep, caused by a fix to the fix I put in for your lack of SoH data, you know the old Programmer song (to the tune of 99 bottles of beer):

99 little bugs in the code,
99 little bugs
Take one down, patch it around
103 little bugs in the code

In any case, should be all better now!
