How to get good car statistics from the Android app

Question

I'm trying to make sure that ABRP can read my data and provide good car (Tesla) statistics. I use only the Android app. But I cannot find out how to set it up and how to use it to optimize the car statistics. It does recognize my car and reads some data from it, like SoC, range, temperatures, odometer, battery capacity and degradation.

I keep reading about a 36 h background setting, but cannot find it anywhere. I'm also not sure whether I want to keep the car awake, wasting energy for 36 h, while it is parked. Questions:

  1. Where do I find that 36 h setting?
  2. Do I have to have the app open and running on my phone while driving to give and get the best data? Or does it suffice to start the app, then put it in the background, hoping that it still does its job? Or do I have to enter a route in the app and get driving instructions while I drive to get the data flowing?

Hi @hgmichna,

1. We do our very best not to waste battery / cause phantom drain and to let the car "go to sleep". Currently, if you stop using the app (not open the app, not log in on web) we'll slow down requests after 24 hours. 36 hours was something we did previously.

There is a premium feature called 'My drives' which saves your driving and charging sessions, if you're premium (or in trial) it can be activated under the vehicles settings as 'Save my activity'.

2. You don't have to be using the app while driving to use 'My drives', we'll log all activity as long as you have 'Save my activity' enabled.

Hello Katya! Thanks for answering. But you have not answered my questions.

I don't have premium access, and so I don't have "My drives".

  1. Where do I find the 24 h background setting?
  2. Does it make a difference for statistical car data collection (like battery degradation and calibrated reference consumption) whether I use the app while driving?
