Cody94549
Description: KONA EV - the SOC for the Mileage of the trip can't be correct Type: Web Page Link to Plan: https://abetterrouteplanner.com/?plan_uuid=297921aa-f60d-4f28-8013-dab9544091d2 Replication Steps: Entered HOME address & Destination = 138 miles Steps If applicable AT a 100% SOC, my KONA EV gets 310 miles. So a 1-way trip of 128 miles should show me arriving with a 150 miles remaining = At least 50-60% ... ABR is showing 32% ... WHY?
TomTomZoe
I opened your link and saw that ABRP couldn't route because it wants to use my own home address and of course not yours . The result will be a total different route (from Germany to California? ) with which your problem can probably not be traced. If you do not want to publish your home address, try to plan with another start location some miles away from your home address, and see if the problem still exists. Then post the link of the new route. Edited August 3, 2020 by TomTomZoe
Cody94549
OK, here ya go .. Thanks .. (newbie here.. great site & APP) https://abetterrouteplanner.com/?plan_uuid=2fadf7da-7f6b-4f32-84fb-a402b067e199
TomTomZoe
I see that the ABRP calculates 61% of 64kWh for your plan. That are 39 kWh. Your plan shows 221km (137 miles). The trip will need 2h29min. So the average speed will be 88km/h (55 miles/h). 39kWh divided by 221km are 17.4kWh/100km (3.6miles/kWh). That’s a fully normal consumption for a Kona EV. The Kona may have a WLTP (or EPA) range of 310 miles (499km). But it has not a range of 310 miles driving highways or from town to town. The consumption in reality is way lower, like for all other cars independent of ICE or EV. Edited August 4, 2020 by TomTomZoe
TomTomZoe
In march 2020 Kona increased the official WLTP range to 484km (300mi). Please note that the average speed driven during WLTP cycle is only 46,6 km/h (29 mi/h)! The average speed in your plan is 88km/h (55 mi/h). So you won't arrive at destination with 150 miles remaining, it will be propably about 87 miles (141km). caf
Not only the speed, you're also driving up 1200m in altitude. Note that the reverse journey uses a lot less.
Cody94549
Thank you all for the detailed and technical responses. Makes more sense to me. I am making that trip on September 1st and will respond back with details.
Cody94549
So I finally made that trip over Labor day week. My results were: - Charged to 100% = 299 miles available - We arrived with a 48% SOC - effectively using 152 miles of the SOC (e.g., 147 remaining) -- (Trip was actually 135 miles on Odometer) - Return trip used 40% of the SOC and 108 miles of battery (we did a trickle charge over night just to eliminate any range anxiety for the return)
Lucas
I'm also courious in this, i did charge today in Chur to 94% to drive to Sedrun Ioniq 28Kwh, ABRP forecasted 40% left, corrected it during the drive to 39%, i arrived with 58% left, The drive is elevetion difference of +900m . Second one from Maienfeld to Oberurnen, charged to 51%, ABRP forecast 16% left, i arrvied with 35% left. I assume i make something wrong but would like to understand what.
