Severe engine sludge on a 2013 Nissan NV2500

I bought a used 2013 Nissan NV2500 V8 with 60K miles on it and been doing the scheduled maintenance on it. It now has 85K miles and is burning oil and has white smoke at the start.

I took to the dealership and they did a teardown and said it has severe sludge in the engine (most likely from the previous owner not changing the oil) and that I'm going to need a new engine. I went to two other mechanics that told me the same thing.

Are there any other options or am I going to have to spend the money for the engine?

I think you might be a little lost, as this is a forum for Electric Vehicles.  On that note, depending on your needs, you might actually be able to save a lot of money and time switching to an EV for a cargo van.  Nissan makes the ENV200 in Europe, and there are quite a few from other manufacturers coming to market in the next couple years so keep your eye out!

Generally Electric Vehicles cost about a third as much to operate as an equivalent gas vehicle, which adds up really quickly if you drive it a lot.  (And have lower maintenance costs due to the simplicity of the drivetrain!)

If you know to work on engines and are capable of taking it apart, then no, you won’t have to get a new engine. However, if you aren’t mechanically inclined, I would advise looking for a replacement engine and have a mechanic put it in your car. I would also advise against using an engine flushing liquid as that can make things worse by allowing the sludge to get trapped into very small holes in your engine which will make the problem even worse.

if 3 different mechanics told you you're going to need a new engine, you're going to need a new engine.

What can you do? Cut your losses, learn from your mistakes, and buy another car. OR replace the engine. shareit vidmate app
