Is there a way to create a separate profile of car+trailer so that ABRP can learn what the weight and aerodynamic drag at different speeds does to range, so that I can plan routes with sufficient charging options? Joakim Posted July 1, 2020 Share Posted July 1, 2020 I would also like this option, since I drive around with a trailer tent with a Model 3. Also the option to input the consumption at 80km/h - since driving with a trailer at 110km/h is kind of frowned upon... I would also like to be able to see more details on each leg - specifically elevation change/consumption as a graph. Testplanning on the Wildernessroad in Sweden, one of the legs gets me 135km of range for 60% consumption - hard to judge if I should trust it... The prior data is from no-trailer... other than selecting the “with Nest” configuration, do I need to do anything to start collecting new performance data (and ignoring old) for trip planning on-the-fly? Jason, it worked well on our road trip, nearly spot-on with remaining SoC percentages at the charging stops. We charged more than “needed” at the stops just in case. I have a few questions. I manually inputted 3800 lbs of extra weight, the rough weight of the Nest trailer. It doesn’t seem like that “adheres” to the new configuration I created for towing the Nest, though. Did I put it in the wrong place? The ability to switch configurations in the app doesn’t seem to be available in all the spots that one could switch vehicles. At times I had difficulty getting to a setting mode that included configuration selection. During a period where we had no cellular Internet available it didn’t seem possible at all inside the app (and of course no web version available). So, I think some of the collected data where we dropped the trailer and just drove the car was mixed in with the trailer configuration. The app shows a “1” badge and I can’t find what it refers to. Other than my few confusions it seemed to work well with planning and getting there without range panic. I’m just unsure how the configurations are partitioned between with-trailer vs no-trailer performance and weight. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Jason-ABRP Posted July 11, 2020 Share Posted July 11, 2020 Soon enough you won't even need to input the weight of the trailer, as we're figuring out how to calibrate that directly (and hopefully get a much more accurate read on the weight!). We did miss a few places to set the configuration when picking the car model in the original release of the vehicle configurations, and that should be fixed in the next version. Let us know if we missed any! I wouldn't worry too much about 'polluting' the vehicle configuration with the wrong data, it adjusts quite quickly to data that doesn't match, so within 5-10 minutes of swapping back to the trailer config you'll have fixed the calibration. One interesting side note, the little three-part bar graph is a view of your calibration confidence: You can see this detailed view by going to the car details and tapping on the bar graph, but it gives a quick visual representation of how confident the calibration is. As far as the notification badge, is that on iOS or Android? I can't say I've seen it do that before, so I'll have to investigate a bit. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

On the iPad I just turned them on and enabled badges. Even after launching ABRP no badge appears. Thinking back, I have had “10 minute” and “5 minute” -until charged enough alerts on my watch (and I presume iPhone too) from the ABRP app. But it seems like I don’t always see the alert. However, the Reference Consumption (Wh/mile) doesn't seem to be tied to the car or the configuration. Using: ABRP 4.0.16.3 (10 days left on free trial) Firefox: 78.0.2 (64-bit) Fedora 31 What I see is that: Set up a standard Audi Etron configuration with 120 pounds added weight and 350 Wh/mile Set a configuration Audi with a 3500 pound trailer and Wh/mile 900 Go back to standard configuration, and it has 350 pounds added weight and 900 Wh/mile. I know I don't have live data (yet), and don't really need that (yet). What I want is to have the configuration have the following independent variables that I can set (at minimum): 1) added weight. A configuration with a trailer has a large added weight associated with the trailer. This should be in the configuration, but perhaps have a separate entry independent of configuration. 2) consumption. The air drag of the trailer needs to be selected with the trailer configuration. 3) Maximum speed. In many places, a vehicle towing has a lower speed limit than a vehicle not towing. If you load up your configuration and exit and re-enter the settings it'll update the displayed value. We'll get that fixed so it updates the displayed value immediately on switching configurations.
