Most Accurate Battery Data For Used Tesla

Question

Hi All,

Just signed up, as I have purchased a 2014 Model S and I am planning a pretty large trip in April (Vancouver Canada to Vegas, then back through PCH to Vancouver).

I want to know what are the options for sending this app (or doing my own logging) to have a more customized route plan based on my batteries actual capacity?

Just by looking at Tesla apps estimated range for 90% charge, it looks like the battery has lost 16% of its original capacity in just 60,000km on the odometer which is concerning to me.  It shows 255km range at 90%, so that would mean 283km at 100% charge vs original spec for an S 60 being 335km.

This is definitely doable, it's been on my to-do list for a while to have the live-data degradation included in planning for cars that provide it.  I'll have to take another look to see if that's something we can deduce from the Tesla API.  Most likely possible.

In the meantime, if you start driving with the plan open in a browser (in-car or phone), we'll calibrate your drive to your live car data, and offer to replan if you get sufficiently off the plan (unexpected headwind, driving faster or slower, etc)

Gotcha, thanks for the reply.

So currently, I guess I should keep logging data on teslafi and punch in my average Wh/km from there into ABRP and that should give me a better trip plan suited to my particular car?  I'm one of those people that like to be as prepared as possible ?

Also, is there any way to force the trip planner to attempt to stay on certain roads? A strange thing is happening where I am setting multiple waypoints between Santa Monica and Malibu and for whatever reason the trip planner is making it incredibly difficult to go the most obvious (direct route). The problem was there was road construction marked on a segment of Highway 1, we re-cooked the routing map, and it's been resolved!

Great, thanks!  Similar problem with Big Sur, I tried to see if there are any closures online but I don't see any: https://abetterrouteplanner.com/?plan_uuid=e3c354c5-dde4-457d-829b-36f5d30486ac

Yeah, that's probably a similar problem.  Highway 1 was closed through there for a long time due to a landslide.  We get our route mapping data through Open Street Map, so if they have it marked closed for repair, we will too.

One thing we should look into is showing road closures on the map, and offering a way to edit those in OSM to help improve the mapping for everyone.
