[New Bike] Energica EVA EsseEsse9+

Recommended Posts

Driving Model:

The Vehicle is a Energica EVA EsseEsse9+ with a battery of 21,5kw/h (18,9kw/h useable!). I had a windshield on it but its really small, probably does not have a significant impact on the power consumption.

Option 2 - Data-Driven - Perform driving test at multiple speeds, and record efficiency or power draw from the pack.

I have collected the data with kw/100km as this shows the first decimal on the dashboard where the power does not show it and converted it with the formula: power=<kw/100km> / 100 / <speed> )

I was not able to legaly drive > 130km/h in our country, as soon as i can drive to germany i can provide this data aswell if really needed

Speed KW / 100km KW
30 km/h (20mph) 4,0 1,2
45 km/h (30mph) 4,6 2,07
60 km/h (40mph) 6,2 3,72
75 km/h (50mph) 7,6 5,7
90 km/h (55mph) 9,5 8,55
100 km/h (60mph) 10,8 10,8
110 km/h (65mph) 12,8 14,08
120 km/h (70mph) 14,5 17,4
130 km/h (75mph) 16,5 21,45
140 km/h (80mph)
150 km/h (85mph)

Charging Model:

Charge Curve - Provide a link to a chart or video detailing the charge power over time or by State of Charge %

I will provide this data as soon as I get to charge it from 0 to 100

Thanks for providing this. I’ve been eyeing the Eva Ribelle, good to see numbers on actual consumption and charging speeds.

Couple notes:

Consumption at speed was captured in km/h? The speeds you listed don’t always line up, ie 130 km/h is 81 mph not 75 mph.

110 km/h tested range seems to be 147 km. Energica claims 112 miles highway = 180 km claimed range - looks like this would need to be 100 km/h to make the claimed range.

Do you have any data on charging time, ie time to charge 31-80% or similar? Energica claims 80% charge in 40 minutes, which seems to be about right using napkin math: 80% * 18.9 kWh / 21.5 kW (eyeball) = 42 minutes

yes i captured the speed in km/h (i copied the table from the info page)

I did a ride last time from 100% to around ~47% soc with and got around 92km when driving at an average of 100km/h which should be nearly the 180km/h range actually

next charging times are correct IF your battery is not getting too hot, otherwise it happens frequently for me that it charges only with 18kw instead of 24kw, at this time I only charged when temperature was under 25°C

when checking my last charging sessions which my app tells me

  • 5,88kwh - 14 minutes (charged from 47% to around 65%)
  • 10,68kwh - 38 minutes
  • 3,74kwh - 11 minutes (charged from around 65 to 85% soc)
  • 10,66kwh - 37 minutes (charged until around 85%)
  • 10,49kwh - 37 minutes (like the one above)
  • 10,26kwh - 29 minutes
  • 4,89 kwh - 13 minutes
  • 7,67 kwh - 19 minutes
  • 6,91 kwh - 25 minutes

I personally charge mostly to 80/85%
