I would like to assist in providing accurate driving data for the VW e-Golf 36 kWh, however I need help on how to do this.

I have the ODB11 (ODBEleven) dongle, but how do I transfer data from this to ABRP?

The solution must be some kind of automatic data collection or transfer, to avoid having to do anything while driving. Before and after would be ok.

Let me know what I can do to help ūüôā

I just received the VW e-Golf last week and I am also interested to connect the car to ABRP via either an OBD2 or OBD-eleven adaptor, but do not see a clear description on how to get it working, nor which adaptor to use. Anyone?

Hi I'm missing the 2015 24kWh E-golf or is this the same car the 26kWh E-golf?

I'm looking to get live data from my E-golf and willing to purchase a ODB - bluetooth interface for this.

Regards,

Florus van Remmerden

Hi, I have used the OBDeleven  dongle with the app extensively since November.

I have a 2015 24kwh egolf. And willing to improve the ABRP model.

I have found the consumption to be higher than the suggested value at 110km/h. Mind you it is proper winter here in Qc. I set consumption at 220Wh/ km to get closer to the conditions.

Note: I always enter temperature, extra load and head/tail wind.

So far the app seems too conservative most of the time. I had better results with the website.  I feel there is room for improvement and would be happy to pitch in.

As stated by Arianto, OBDeleven can send data by email and I noticed it can record graphs.

Thanks so much for all the great work!

The estimates for the 2016 24kwh eGolf (not 26kwh as described) are not accurate (at least for me!)

Analysis of an example planned route gives 155 Wh/km for 87 km with 44% remaining. This computes to usable battery of 24 Kwh.

Data indicates that the usable at new was 21.8Kwh.

As a result, and allowing for expected degradation, the ranges are not achieved.

Having set up the route, there was  a minor diversion resulting in a trip of 95km with car reporting 161Wh/km and remaining appeared to be of the order of 21%. This computes at battery capacity of just under 19.4 Kwh, or 11% degradation (from the 21.8). The result was better in the milder weather in early Autumn indicating capacity of over 20Kwh and therefore c. 7% degradation. The battery may have better performance/capacity in warmer weather.

In order to have the planner work (for me) I need to input over 20% degradation.

To verify and improve our models we need your feedback.  There's many ways we could use help if you actually own one:

  • Drive a plan and compare it to the actual battery used.
  • Drive a plan with the browser active, and update your actual battery percentage in the browser.
  • Contribute data via OBD or other methods.

The best way to improve the data is to provide data directly from the car.  Connecting your car not only improves the models, but allows you to follow up directly in the car while driving! We have several ways of doing that, but we need your help to figure out what will work with your car:

  • An OBD reader can be used in concert with a custom app like¬†LeafSpy, or a¬†PID list and Torque Pro.
  • If your manufacturer has an API to access data from the car we can set up access to that API, like we do for Tesla

If you're familiar with either of these, contact me at jason@abetterrouteplanner.com and I'll help figure out what we need to do to connect your car!

Thanks for providing feedback!

This is the list (still work in progress) of pids for CarScanner or Torque. The codes are for VW e-up but work also on an e-golf: https://www.goingelectric.de/wiki/Liste-der-OBD2-Codes/

Hope it helps.

how can i achieve the same with ABRP?

Hi! Managed to connect e-golf to a generic ELM 327 adapter, we're developing an app to show SoC, battery temperature and more for eGolf and eUp (and possibly ID3 and other cars in the future), how can we make our app talk to ABRP? Thanks!
