OBD Live Data Setup

Thanks for contributing your data to ABRP!

We've added setup instruction to a page within the planner itself to simplify the setup process.  To set up live data for your car, navigate the ABRP Planner and select "Settings > Select car model > Add My Car".  You can see a comparison of the vehicles we support via OBD and other methods on our site:

https://abetterrouteplanner.com/compare/livedata/

And we are happy to add more once it's possible to retrieve data via an OBD adapter! Please let us know if you've managed to pull data from your car, we'd be happy to work with you to add it to ABRP.

That will work, but if you guys are going to use this shortcut (https://abrp.mp/) perhaps you should get its certificate registered so people are not presented with this error.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention! We'll get the certificate registered for the shortform of the URL, in the meantime I've updated the link in the post.

Hi, I would like to know whether it is possible to use an OBD2 plug connected to an i-Pace and use the live data on an iPad or other device?

It isn't yet, but something we're investigating:

If you'd like to contribute we're definitely happy to have help on this one!

OK, I have a Mitsubishi iMiev that I would like to collect data for. I have hooked up the Automatic OBDII adapter, the UltraGauge adapter, and the Bluetooth version and each of them has refused to talk to the car. Most of them actually cause the dash lights to indicate an error or 20. Is there a recommended adapter to plug into the car that may allow data collection for ABRP?

I know, it's got VERY limited range, but if I knew more precisely HOW MUCH it actually could deliver I could take it places beyond the neighborhood

When I click live data, there is no option to then click setup. I’m sure I’m missing something, any help would be greatly appreciated!

I personally like my OBDLink LX, works quite well, and reads fast.  Never tried it with the Soul EV though.

That means your selected car model isn't supported.  What car do you have? Are you aware of any way to get live data from it, like LeafSpy, Torque Pro, or the Tesla API?

Hey I just got one too! After reading some forums, seems most of the apps designed for this car expect to use a much higher end dongle with fast refresh rate. However, the normal wifi elm327 works for me using Hobdrive. Not really sure if there's a way to connect that to ABRP. I think it would be more promising to use OVMS, because it also wouldn't tie up the phone in any way... however, presumably that means there needs to be some sort of API cloud connection between ABRP and OVMS and I'm not entirely sure how much effort would be involved. I'm probably going to get OVMS hardware within the next 3 months, so would love to engage on the topic at that point!

I presume GoDaddy have been reluctant to re-issue the certificate for free, in which case I can suggest that you switch to letsencrypt.org.

Now creating a plugin for OVMS to support ABRP. Documentation is available here: OVMS Documentation

I am trying to use the app, and got an obd reader, which works with torquelite.  When I open the abrp app on my Android phone, I do not see any settings for live data at all.  What am I missing?  I am sure I am just missing something.

Hi, Torquelite does not upload data. So you need to buy TorquePro. Alternatively you can use evnotify (which is free).

also evnotify is easier to install (no difficult stuff with PIDs).

You only need to check if evnotify is compatible with your car model.

Thanks, as I said just getting started, as we just bought our first ev.  I found the live data option on the website version, but still can't find it in the app.  On the website, I am not getting data, but that may be because evnotify says only some data from a bolt.

Do you see data on web.evnotify.de?

I guess I must be missing something, I am not sure what that is.  I get data on my evnotify app on my phone.

Hi,

In general:

- an app on your phone connects to the ODB dongle and reads out the values -> if this work you will see it in the app.

- this app needs to sent the data to the webservice (e.g. web.evnotify.de). If you log on into that service you should be able to see actual data (and historic monitoring)

- then the data needs to be sent from this webservice to ABRP (see instructions in the "setup live data" in the website of ABRP (not the app!)

Thanks I will look at that, however, I do not have access to that link.
